Acer has had a Ferrari branded laptop for quite some time now and it has prompted Asus to get a co-branded portable of their own. Their choice is the all powerful Lamby, Yes, gather round you power-crazy speed junkies for this netbook might get you that much closer to feeling the Lamborghini styling.Asus’ new ASUS Lamborghini VX6 measures 12.1″ and is more of an ultraportable than a netbook. But then I have always maintained that this whole ‘ultraportable’ thing is kinda dicey. Plus, this one’s using an Atom and not a CULV. So let’s stick with calling it a netbook. The VX6 is powered by an Intel Atom D525 chip, clocking in at 1.8GHz. It has a maximum capacity of 4GB of RAM and has the next generation of NVIDIA ION (ION 2) to support graphics, HD video and some 3D gaming.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium, this netbook will give a good experience on the platform thanks to the added graphics muscle that it packs. Adding to the experience is a pair of Bang and Olufsen speakers that come with SRS premium sound. Yes, this is more a lifestyle device than a hardcore workhorse. But given the power, you can get a lot of stuff done on it. The 12.1″ display has a resolution of 1366×768, giving you a compromise betwee 720p and 1080p video quality. But given the specs, it should be able to playback 1080p without any problems whatsoever,
The styling of this netbook is definitely a welcome site. Done up in a classy white color with a car bonnet like finish on the lid, this is a really good netbook to be working with. If white is not your thing or you are sure you will get stains all over it, you have the option of going with black.
And so far you have been thinking that since this is a netbook, it has to be on the affordable side. Well, you have been kinda right if you have thought that. It sells for $699 (base price probably) — which is much too high for an Atom-based netbook but — with HD video capabilities, ION 2, Lamborghini styling (you know you have to pay for style) and up to 4GB RAM, you are looking at something quite powerful. Besides, the 12.1″ screen is larger than your average netbook screen. So overall, I would say it is a good enough deal to go and grab it.
Battery life should be good, thanks to the 5200mAh battery that comes with it. Just try not to play games of watch HD movies on it constantly without plugging it in and it will last your daily surfing requirements with ease.
We have a hands-on video procured via Netbooked. It shows a really glossy screen complimenting the whole piano black finish of a black version of the model. Find it embedded below.
